Dallas Mavericks Games Return to Free Over-the-Air TV After Multi-Year Deal With WFAA

Local Mavericks fans will have a new way to watch their team

Beginning with the 2023-24 NBA season, 31 regular-season Mavericks games will be broadcast over-the-air on WFAA.

The deal, announced on Thursday, marks the return of Mavericks games to free over-the-air TV in Dallas-Fort Worth for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

The games will be broadcast on WFAA's main channel (channel 8) and will also be streamed live on WFAA.com and the WFAA app.

The Mavericks have been broadcasting their games on Bally Sports Southwest since the 2018-19 season. However, Bally Sports Southwest is not available on all cable and satellite providers.

The new deal with WFAA will make Mavericks games more accessible to fans who do not have access to Bally Sports Southwest.

"We are excited to partner with WFAA to bring Mavericks games back to free over-the-air TV in Dallas-Fort Worth," said Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall.

"This deal will make it easier for our fans to watch their favorite team, and we believe it will help us grow our fan base in the region."

WFAA President and General Manager Brad Ramsey said the station is "thrilled" to partner with the Mavericks.

"The Mavericks are one of the most popular teams in the NBA, and we know our viewers will be excited to watch them on WFAA," Ramsey said.

The Mavericks' regular season begins on Oct. 19 at home against the Phoenix Suns.
